I am entering my 4th term as Mayor of Vicco. For many years I
served as City Commissioner starting in the year 1968. I
served many years, off and on until the year 1995 when I became the
Mayor of Vicco.
I was raised most of my life in
Vicco. I was a graduate from the Rogersville High School in
the year of 1953. I am married to Rosamond Begley Ward from
Knott Co. We have one Son Gary Ward. We are the proud
Grandparents of 3 fine granddaughters Brittany, Natasha, and Amanda.
Also one fine grandson, Gary Scott. I am a member of the Vicco
Church of God. I have been a member for many years. I am
also a trustee of the church. I have also been a bus driver
for several years. I have
Served on the Vicco/Sassafras Fire & Rescue Fire Department since it
was started in the year 1962. I have also served as Assistant
Fire Chief for 16 years and I am proud of that. After I graduated from High School, I went to serve in the
United States Army from 1954-1956. I was sent to Germany
and spend the rest of my time in Germany in the 594th Transportation
as a truck driver. I am now
employed at Hoovers Home furnishings in Hazard, KY. I have
worked there for 22 years and also trying to do the work of Mayor
for the city of Vicco.
